What are dark circles anyway?

You may be wondering...why does the skin under my eyes look dark? Is it actually my skin that's dark or something else? Turns out, it's not your skin at all. Dark circles actually appear when light reflects off the blood vessels under your skin. When the skin under your eyes is very thin, those blood vessels become visible and show up as dark under-eye circles.

What causes them?

Most tend to attribute dark circles to exhaustion and while a lack of sleep can definitely contribute to their showing up, dark circles really come down to two things:

  1. Thin, pale and translucent skin under the eyes
  2. Dilated blood vessels & excess blood flow under the eyes

If you have one or both of these happening, then hello, dark circles!

So what causes thin under-eye skin? A few things. For some of us, it's just good 'ol genetics causing our skin to be ultra-pale and more susceptible to dark circles. But for many, thin under-eye skin can be attributed to aging and the loss of collagen that comes with it. When skin loses collagen, it becomes thinner and more translucent, making dark circles more of a concern. (But there is a way to delay or prevent this, which we'll get to in a few!)

What causes dilated blood vessels under the eyes? Now this is where exhaustion comes in. Things like stress or a lack of sleep cause the release of cortisol (the stress hormone) in the body. Cortisol makes all of the blood vessels in your body dilate, or become bigger, to increase blood flow. Dilated blood vessels = more visible blood vessels and hence, you see dark circles.

So how I can make my dark circles disappear?

While genetics-related factors like skin tone and bone structure obviously aren't going anywhere, there is an easy way to minimize or completely eliminate dark circles! For real results, you want a product that:

  1. Slows skin aging and boosts collagen in the skin
  2. Constricts blood vessels under the eyes to make them less visible

This is where our Hero serum, Light Reveal, comes in. Light Reveal contains clean actives like natural vitamin A (retinol) and carotenes to boost collagen in the skin and reverse & prevent thinning. It also contains concentrated caffeine from Guarana fruit (3x more powerful than coffee!) to constrict blood vessels, depuff, and firm the skin. In other words, it's the perfect serum for anyone wanting to reduce the look of their dark circles!

Here's what customers have said...

"Most effective dark circle reducer I have ever used prescription, over-the-counter, or otherwise."
"[Light Reveal] works great for brightening eyes - all I need is one pump and it glides on so smoothly!"
